Book Zoo

We carry mostly used and out-of-print books, though we have NEW CHILDREN'S BOOKS and some new books in other categories (ART, POETRY, RADICAL THOUGHT, etc.) We also sell used MAPS, POSTERS, and other 'PAPER', meaning POSTCARDS, PRINTS, stapled PAMPHLETS, and general EPHEMERA. We buy books over the counter whenever we are open, and offer CASH or TRADE credit for books we can use. We can usually take donations, since we hold occasional Sidewalk Sales. We can often make house-calls for larger libraries that interest us.

So, to be slightly more specific... we try to stock really unusual, significant, or attractive titles. Often the weirder the better, with oddity and obscurity something we value. We buy sci-fi and crime pocketbooks, but not much into the 80's and 90's. We also buy non-fiction pocketbooks selectively. Also: ART, PHOTOGRAPHY, PHILOSOPHY, MATH, CHESS & GAMES, SCHOLARLY items, and 'LITERATURE', if you will excuse the term. Many, many more categories, but hope this helps.

We also host events of all kinds. Often, but not always book-related. In the past, we have had poetry readings, political discussions, D.I.Y.
